Artist's Description

Optophobia: The Fear of Opening One's Eyes. A conceptual piece illustrating a phobia. After deciding upon an intriguing phobia, the image content was developed in a series of sketches, then I photographed a model and created the final painting using this reference. This is one of my all-time favorite paintings. Please note the actual image on canvas has a 1" border around it, very suitable for framing. ©2001, 2011 John Ashton Golden.
